Age Calculator

To calculate age from a date of birth, enter the birth date. The calculator shows the exact age today in years, months and days, plus total months, weeks, days and hours and the days left until the next birthday. Change the "Age on" date to find the age on any past or future date, for example a form's cut-off date.

How to use it

  1. Enter the date of birth.
  2. Leave "Age on" as today, or change it to any other date such as an exam or job cut-off date.
  3. Read the exact age in years, months and days, with the totals underneath.

Age on a cut-off date

Exams, jobs, sports leagues and school admissions often set an age limit "as on" a particular date, such as 1 January or the last day of applications. Put that date in the Age on field to see exactly how old you will be, down to the day, so you know whether you qualify.

Example

Someone born on 15 August 2000 is 26 years, 2 months and 8 days old on 23 October 2026: 26 full years have passed since 15 August 2000, then two full months to 15 October, then eight more days.

Other uses

  • Work out the age gap between two people by entering one birth date and the other as the "Age on" date.
  • Find a child's age in months for vaccination or growth charts.
  • See how many days old you are, or count down to a milestone birthday.

Frequently asked questions

How is age calculated?

The calculator counts full years since the birth date, then full months, then the remaining days. If the day of the month has not yet been reached, it borrows the length of the previous month, which is how ages are counted on official forms.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. It uses real calendar dates, so 29 February and months of different lengths are handled correctly. People born on 29 February have their birthday counted on 1 March in common years.

How do I find my age on a specific date?

Change the "Age on" field to that date. This is useful for application forms that ask for your age as of a cut-off date.

Is my date of birth saved?

No. The calculation happens in your browser and nothing is sent or stored.
